HOW

If you have a :Cue :Cat Bar Code scanner move your mouse focus to the text field on the top left corner , that is click your mouse inside the text box so that the cursor starts blinking, and then use the Cue Cat to scan a bar code

WHAT

This is an online Cue Cat bar code scan decode and lookup page. Cue Cat is a free bar code scanner available free at RadioShack or with subscriptions to magazines like Forbes , Wired etc. You can get more info and order a free scanner online from www.getcat.com

BAR NONE uses Digital Convergence server to translate the Barcode. It does not decode the scan completely and send you directly to the destination site since Digital Convergence has sent legal warnings to other sites who posted the complete decoding code ( They claims their revenue model is based on "being the gate keeper between codes and their destinations online" , whatever ! )

If you are looking for a decoder which does not use DC server there are plenty available now, go to www.freshmeat.net or www.sourceforge.net and search for Cue Cat.

If you want to know more about the Cue Cat fiasco please go to www.slashdot.org and search for Cue Cat and/or Digital Convergence.

WHY

Cue Cat comes with Windows only Software, So if you have only Unix boxes

CURIOUS

If you dont have a Cue Cat, go get one for free or cut and paste the following sample Cue Cat scan output to the text field and press enter to see how it works.

sample 1
.3nZC3nZC3nZDxr3CNfYCxnX.fHmg.C3DWENbWDa.

sample 2

( make sure you cut and paste the code without missing the dots at the beginning and the end !)
